"Wait up! the gray tabby she-cat yowled to her ginger companion. Her paws stirred the dry sandy ground of the hollow, creating dust clouds in her hurried wake. The ginger tom daintily skipped out of reach, taunting her, bright blue eyes sparkling with mischief. She hissed playfully, pelt spiky with mock anger. Taking a swipe at his nose, she was careful that her claws were sheathed. Unknowingly their tussling led them over the smooth tracks ahead. Sensing a faint roaring sound in the distance, the gray striped kit pricked her ears. The ginger tom however, was oblivious to the gentle rumbling beneath their paws. Suddenly a blinding flash appeared on the horizon. The gray tabby kit panicked, leaping off the tracks. The ginger tom wasn't as aware and froze, caught in the glare of the lights.
Above the hubbub, a multi-colored tomcat idly stared at the cloudless blue sky above, amber eyes drooping in contentment. The warmth of the bridge was lulling him to a peaceful doze. Hearing a startled squeak, his eyes snapped open. Noticing the kit in peril, he glanced about for options. The bridge was too high for him to jump down, but maybe if something fell from the bridge the train might stop in time. Perched precariously on the bridge, a patched, rather enormous feline was sitting. He too was lackadaisical, heedless of the scene below him. The multi-hued tom had a choice, should he push the elderly fat cat to save the kit? Or, let the kit be run over?
