The pure white with light gray paws, tail tip, ear tips and nose she-cat padded into the warrior's den to get some rest. Having just been on a dawn patrol, she was rather tired. She had been a warrior for many moons and her mother, Sweetbriar, had already joined StarClan the past couple moons. Mother, why did you have to leave Shadepelt and I? The question rang through her head as she curled up in her nest and fell asleep, her dreams disturbed.
*Dream*
Silvertail padded alone in a pitch black forest, pelt bristling. Where was she? She'd never been here before. This wasn't ShadeClan territory. She jumped as a star-pelted she-cat padded into the clearing. Silvertail inhaled and started. She recognized that scent. "Sweetbriar?" Silvertail's voice was soft and timid. The white-and-brown she-cat nodded and purred. "My kit a warrior. I am proud of both you and Shadepelt." Silvertail puffed out her chest, her fur still bristling. "Where am I, Sweetbriar?" Sweetbriar looked around and sighed. "This is your dream, Silvertail. I cannot say where it is. All I can say is listen closely." Silvertail nodded and listened to what her mother had to tell her. "There will be a time of darkness in your life. A tom will betray you and another will try to comfort you in your darkest hour. Learn to trust the second tom and learn to dispise the first."
Silvertail frowned, not understanding. "Do you mean I'll fall in love and be hurt and then a tom who likes me will try and comfort me?" Sweetbriar nodded her head and looked behind her. "I must warn you, Silvertail. The first tom will have a sleek grey pelt with two white paws. The second will be a silvery white pelt. This is all I can tell you, my daughter. Please, tell Shadepelt about this. I don't want you to be hurt by this darkness." Silvertail nodded as her mother started to fade. "I will be with you always, Silvertail."
*Dream*
Silvertail woke up with a start, her fur still bristling. Standing, she shook her pelt out and padded toward the medicine cat den, where Shadepelt was sorting herbs. "Shadepelt?" the sleek black she-cat turned and purred once before returning to sorting herbs. "Hello, Silvertail. It's been a while." Silvertail nodded and inhaled. "Sweetbriar came to me in a dream, Shadepelt." Shadepelt stopped sorting herbs at the mention of their mother. "What did she want?" Shadepelt was still bitter about Sweetbriar not accepting Shadepelt's desire to be medicine cat, even though that had happened when Silvertail and Shadepelt were apprentices.
Silvertail inhaled again and swallowed hard. "She warned me about something in my life. Something dark. A tom will betray me, another will try and comfort me. I don't know whether to believe it or not, but what choice do I have? I mean, she's a StarClan cat now and, well, it seems right to trust in them." Shadepelt nodded her head and purred. "Don't worry, Silvertail. Your Clanmates will help you always." She decided to change the subject and looked up from the herbs. "Hey, Silvertail, um, how's things in the warriors' den?" Silvertail purred at her sister's attempt to cheer her up. "Fine, Shadepelt. I just hope that things go well in ShadeClan." Shadepelt nodded. "As do I, Silvertail. As do I."
Silvertail nodded and padded out of the medicine den and into the camp. She inhaled and padded to the fresh-kill pile, pulling a squirrel off the pile.
